Customer Spotlight: Downing Fruit Farm
The Downing Family started farming in Darke County, Ohio in 1838 and today they are the longest running business in their county.
Scott and Rachelle run the farm with their daughters: Allie, Maddie and Meghan. Scott is the 7th generation to farm at Downing Fruit Farm where they raise 75 varieties of apples, peaches, cherries, pears, plums, melons, pumpkins, gourds, vegetables and greenhouse strawberries. They also make delicious cider, caramel apples and host a Fall Festival each October.
Scott's four times Great Grand Father, John Downing, started the orchard with saplings and seeds brought to the frontier from the east. Each generation added to the mix of great crops grown at the farm. Today they sell at the farm as well as various local farmer's markets.
As a winner of best cider in the U.S., Scott says "We like Rockford's ability to meet our label and container needs. We really like the pint bottles for cider as we sell a lot of them at the Farmer's Market."
We thank Downing Family for their business and look forward to meeting the needs of future generations.
